Annerley AGM boasts record attendance, reflects on a solid year

The Annerley Branch reflected on another solid year of performance as a record number of members attended the 2010 Annual General Meeting to choose a new executive, office-bearers and delegates for the next 12 months.

In presenting the annual report to the meeting, Branch Secretary, Rod Beisel, believed that the Branch had ‘certainly consolidated’ over the past year.

“We have put in the hard yards of raising much needed funds and assisting with continuous campaigning efforts in lead up to what will be a very tough federal election”, he said.

“We have strengthened as a Branch and performed strongly when asked to”.

The meeting also recognised the hard work of Lee Lunney, who recently announced her retirement after 7 years as a member of the Branch Executive. Lee was thanked by the meeting and presented with a special gift.

“Lee has certainly been a cornerstone of the Branch for the past 7 years and we wish her all the best as she starts a new family”, Rod Beisel said.

Congratulations were also expressed to John Lincolne who took out the Annerley Branch Member Appreciation Award for 2009/2010.

“John has been an incredibly active member over the past year and is definitely an asset to our Branch”, commented Rod Beisel. Other members were also thanked for their participation over the last year with the presentation of certificates of appreciation.

Elected to the executive (pictured left) were Cameron Crowther as President, Noel Morris & Sasha Marin as the two Vice Presidents, Rod Beisel as Secretary, Julian Toussaint as Assistant Secretary, David Carlyon as Treasurer, and John Lincolne & Tom Dixon as the new Executive Co-ordinators.

Owen Wareham was re-elected as Young Labor Organiser and Rosa Sottile is the new Labor Women’s Organiser for 2010/11.

Also in attendance were Graham Perrett, Federal Member for Moreton and Simon Finn, State Member for Yeerongpilly, who both voiced their strong appreciation for the hard work put in by the Annerley Branch over the past 12 months.

  1. Many will say that it is members who make the Branch what it is. But no one can deny the facts that without a strong Executive to lead the Branch, we would not have achieve our goals for the people of Griffith & Moreton.

  2. Such an honour to be a member of this Branch. Wonderful, committed people to work with and a great opportunity to serve our fellow Australians at all levels of Government.
