Branch members out in force for 2010 election

The Annerley Branch has hit the ground running for the 2010 federal election by staffing street stalls in Annerley, Fairfield and Tarragindi, all on the first day of the campaign.

Wasting no time in anticipation of the date being announced by the Prime Minister, members volunteered for a host of electioneering activities, just hours into the campaign.

"Whilst Julia Gillard was announcing the 21 August election date, Annerley Branch members were already planning our next series of street stalls", Annerley Branch secretary, Rod Beisel remarked.

"People are keen to defeat Tony Abbott and everything he stands for", he said.

During the election, the Annerley Branch will be campaigning for both Hon Kevin Rudd MP in Griffith and Graham Perrett MP in Moreton (both pictured).

"Feedback from locals is very clear", Rod Beisel commented. "They don't want to go backwards to the days of social division, gutting our education system, defunding health and stripping our rights in the workplace".

In her announcement of the election date, Prime Minister Julia Gillard was clear about her message to the Australian people.

"We'll move forward together with a sustainable Australia, a stronger economy, budgets in surplus and world-class health and education services and other essential services that hard-working Australians and their families rely on," she said.
