Branch News Update - May 2011

Branch celebrates a few 'wins'

Members from the Annerley Branch have scored a few wins this month retaining the Matt Foley Shield and winning Rainbow Labor's trivia competition.

Holding off a very spirited challenge from the Yeronga Branch, the Annerley team were able to secure back to back titles in the annual lawn bowls competition known as the Matt Foley Shield.

Played at the Yeronga Bowls Club, the event is a popular day out for Branch members and a great chance to catch up on a social level. The winning team (pictured) comprised Cameron Crowther, Noel Morris (captain), and Doug Stewart.

Also notching up a surprise win this month was Annerley based trivia team - The Eggheads (pictured left). Participating in the trivia fundraising event for Rainbow Labor, the Annerley team came from behind in the final round to win the competition by four points.

The event was well attended and proved to be a fun night for all, with donated prizes from numerous supporters and Labor politicians.

Annual Book Drive on again

Annerley Branch members and supporters are once again encouraged to support this years annual book drive by donating any books they no longer want. The book drive is an annual project of the Branch, with donations handed over to the Annerley Community Bookshop.

Proceeds from book sales helps the Bookshop with their community work.

Anyone wanting to donate books should email info@annerleylabor.org by Saturday 11th June.
