A recent cocktail event hosted by the Annerley Branch for state MP, and newly appointed Bligh government minister, Simon Finn, has been hailed a huge success.

Held to boost funds for the next Yeerongpilly campaign, this years event saw a record amount of monies raised. Organisers for the event also noted the increased level of support from members, especially from Young Labor.

Speaking at the event, Simon Finn took the opportunity to thank local members and supporters for their help and assistance as focus turns toward the next state election due early 2012.

"Whilst the Bligh government has gotten on with the job of delivering on key promises, the Opposition has been in total disarray", Simon Finn said. "It was certainly no mistake when Campbell Newman referred to the LNP frontbench as the shallow cabinet".

Simon claimed that although the next campaign for Yeerongpilly would be tough, voters would see Campbell Newman as nothing more than an empty brand. "Campbell Newman has delivered a tunnel that has failed financially, a bridge no one wants to drive on and bikes he has to pay people to ride", he remarked.

Organisers for the cocktail event have extended their thanks to everyone who helped make the night such a great success.
