Call for daylight savings referendum

The Annerley Branch has called on the Bligh Labor Government to hold a referendum in South East Queensland to determine if a special time zone should be created for residents.

Passing a resolution at its March meeting, the Annerley Branch believes that a referendum of voters in the South East Queensland region should be held to determine the level of support for partitioning the state during the summer months.

Branch members were vocal in their support for the move, which was claimed to potentially benefit the business and tourism sectors of not only Brisbane, but also the Gold and Sunshine Coasts.

The resolution has been forwarded to the Premier.
