Branches get ready for next State Election

Preparations for the next State Election, due early 2015, are truly underway with members from three local ALP Branches - Annerley, Salisbury and Yeronga -  gathering together recently to discuss ideas for local campaign activities and strategies.

With a significant increase in members keen to take on the Newman Government, momentum is quickly gaining pace to build a strong, local grassroots campaign to win back the state seat of Yeerongpilly.

In addition to the savage and mean-spirited cuts to services and jobs, many residents are expressing concern about the general direction Queensland is taking under the Newman LNP Government. For example, the continued attacks on civil liberties and post-Fitzgerald institutions has deeply worried many voters, as well as the LNP's regressive policies on education, health, the environment and industrial relations.

With 2014 shaping up to be a key year, and with the Premier Newman and the LNP slipping in opinion polls, activities over the next 12 months will be instrumental in ensuring Labor will be well placed to take the fight up to the government.
