Labor is Closing the Gap

Labor's 'Closing the Gap' framework has provided, for the first time in our nation’s history, a clear, properly funded framework that holds all of us accountable to making progress to address Indigenous disadvantage.

Since 2008, Federal Labor has made an unprecedented investment of more than $5.5 billion through the 'Closing the Gap' framework in vital areas such as improving health, education, housing and essential services, welfare reform, recognition and advocacy and Indigenous languages and art.

Already, the framework has made significant progress, and this year, we will meet our first 'Closing the Gap' target. However, Labor recognises that there is much more to be done.

That's why the Federal Labor Government is committed to continuing its record investment to ensure all 'Closing the Gap' targets are met.
