Kevin Rudd wins TV debate

Initial online reaction to the first debate in the 2013 federal election has given Labor's Kevin Rudd an overwhelming verdict of victory.

The ABC TV's Twitter-based 'tug of war' poll had Kevin Rudd on 71% to Abbott's paltry 29%. Alternatively, Channel Nine's own Twitter polling also had the Prime Minister as the clear winner in the well-watched debate, with 57% in agreement.

However, the major policy announcement during the debate that had many buzzing in the Twittersphere was Kevin Rudd's commitment regarding marriage equality.

"My commitment to you is that within the first 100 days of a re-elected government, a bill would come forth to legalise marriage equality", Mr Rudd told viewers.

The announcement is certainly guaranteed to energise many in the community who have been campaigning hard for the overdue reform.
