Branch expresses disappointment over Assange comments

The December general meeting of the Annerley Branch has expressed strong disappointment over recent comments by Prime Minister, Julia Gillard concerning the alleged criminal conduct of Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange.

Branch members were unanimous in voicing their concern that the Prime Minister had effectively pre-judged the guilt of Mr Assange and backed a resolution calling on the Australian Government to provide full consular support.

Branch Policy Committees established

The Annerley Branch has adoped a bold proposal to establish four policy committees to enhance existing policy development processes by harnessing the diverse range of interests and expertise of members. The four new committees established at the December general meeting were:
  • Governance, Defence and Foreign Policy Committee;
  • Social Policy Committee;
  • Economic Policy Committee; and
  • Environment & Resources Policy Committee.
It is expected that the committees will commence their work in the new year, as soon as Convenors have been appointed. Branch Members interested in participating on any of the committees should contact the Secretary at info@annerleylabor.org

Clean Up Australia Day participation confirmed

The Branch Executive have confirmed the location for next years Clean Up Australia Day event. The annual event, which will be held next year on Sunday 6th March, will see the Annerley Branch assist at the Sandy Creek Park, Laura Street Tarragindi.
